2012 Engineering Science Praxis II Showcase

Join Engineering Science students who have applied their engineering, design, and communication skills to local issues on Monday, April 16, 2012 from 9:00am to 6:00pm. During the first half of this term, a class of 250 first year Engineering Science students identified local issues in response to the challenge of sustainably improve the quality of life of a City of Toronto community. From their 70 proposals, the following eight were distributed back to the class for them to address:

  • Closing The Raccoon Buffet | Keeping Wildlife Out of Toronto’s Green Bins
  • Ensuring Safety & Enabling Freedom | Limiting Wandering by Autistic Children
  • Urban Farms | Safe Agriculture in Highrises
  • Bettering the Better Way | Wayfinding for the Blind in the TTC
  • Seniors’ Reach | Designing New Ambulatory Aids for the Elderly
  • Safe Passage | Improving the Bathurst-Finch Intersection
  • Winter Wheeling | Improving Safety for Toronto’s Winter Cyclists
  • Park It | Improving Downtown Bike Parking
