NEM: Corporate Social Responsibility in Mining Panel Discussion

Event date: Thursday, March 08, 2012, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Location: Lassonde Mining Building, 170 College Street - Goldcorp Mining Innovation Suite

In celebration of National Engineering Month, U of T's Engineers Without Borders chapter presents a panel discussion on "Corporate Social Responsibility in Mining."

Canada is a world leader in the mining industry, with substantial activity within Canada and Canadian companies active in finding and developing mines all over the world. This often leads to Canadian companies playing a vital role in the environmental stewardship of industrial activities in remote and developing areas, and being substantial participants in the economies of remote and developing communities – and Canadians rightly take an interest in the performance of the industry in those roles.

The Toronto Branch of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy invites members of the University of Toronto community to meet and talk about CSR and mining with some of the people involved in our industry.
