Your first choice when you want to stand out
Whether you are a recent engineering graduate or a seasoned
professional, the Master of Engineering (MEng) program is the
perfect mix of technical, leadership and business skills to take your
career to the next level. The MEng program is right for you if you are
already working and want to upgrade your skills, of if you want to take
engineering management courses.
Primarily
comprised of lecture and laboratory work, the MEng program may also include a
project. Best of all, you can customize the MEng to
fit your goals through certificates in areas such as entrepreneurship
and leadership, public policy, globalization, energy and healthcare
engineering.
The
MEng can be undertaken on either a full- or part-time basis. The
program can usually be completed in one year of full-time study, but
must be completed within six calendar years of registration. Working
professionals tend to pursue the program on a part-time basis. We also
offer some weekend and online course options.
Why an MEng is your smart choice:
- Sets you apart in a competitive job market
- Enhances your English language skills in an engineering environment
- Certificate options to suit your professional goals
- Can be completed in just one year of full-time study
- Increases your career opportunities
You can pursue your MEng through one of the following six departments in the
Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering at the University of Toronto:
General Admission Requirements
To qualify for admission to
the MEng program, you must have an undergraduate degree (usually four
years) in engineering with at least a mid-B to B+ average in your final
two years.
To learn about the admissions and application process, including the English facility requirements and the Graduate International Foundation Program (G-IFP), please consult our Graduate Admissions page.
MEng Certificate Options
Along with the traditional MEng degree, U of T Engineering offers several opportunities for academic focus in
Engineering and Public Policy (EPP),
Globalization,
Entrepreneurship Leadership Innovation Technology in Engineering (ELITE) and
Robotics and Mechatronics (IRM).
In order to focus on one of these areas of study within the MEng program, you must complete four courses in either area in addition to your MEng courses. Upon completion of your MEng degree, you will also receive a certificate.
Please note: Students can also choose to take EPP and Globalization courses on their own (i.e., without pursuing the MEng degree) to receive a certificate.Find out more about the MEng certificate options
