Our Calls to Action: The University’s Response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada
In 2009, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada began a multi-year process to listen to survivors, communities and others affected by Canada’s residential school system. The Commission’s final reports were delivered in December 2015, and included calls to action to redress the legacy of residential schools and advance the process of Canadian reconciliation.
In January 2016, the University struck a steering committee to review the calls to action and suggest priorities that are applicable to the University. One year later, this committee’s co-chair, Professor Stephen Toope, will share these priorities and how our Faculty can support these calls to action. Join us as we engage in this important discussion and learn how we can commit to greater reconciliation and healing for this community.
