Indigenous Speaker Series: Technical Challenges and Solutions for Far-North Aboriginal Housing

November 28, 2019 @ 2:10 pm - 3:30 pm EST

Over the past few years, housing conditions in remote northern Aboriginal communities have repeatedly made national news. Prevailing approaches to design and construction have resulted in many buildings plagued with moisture issues, poor indoor air quality and premature deterioration. This presentation will explain the technical challenges concerning the design and construction of healthy, durable and efficient housing in the far north and describe the critical role of Building Science in addressing these issues. Several on-going research projects addressing these issues will be presented along with some of the early results and lessons learned.

Trevor Trainor, building enclosure expert with RDH Building Science and member of the Thessalon First Nation.

All are invited, but please RSVP before 25-Nov.
