National Day of Remembrance and Action of Violence against Women

December 6, 2022

On December 6, U of T joins communities across Canada in remembering the 14 women killed in a devastating act of misogyny at the engineering school at Montreal’s École Polytechnique in 1989.

We welcome all faculty, staff, students, and librarians to join us either in-person or virtually for this tri-campus event.

The event will feature a memorial to honour the lives of those lost to gender-based violence both nationally and internationally, and a dynamic panel discussion with activists, scholars, and community leaders with meaningful global action and a call to end gender-based violence globally.

In addition, there will be a musical tribute, a spoken word performance, and an awards ceremony recognizing individuals who’ve shown a commitment to ending gender-based violence.

Come out to support engineering students and the Skule Orchestra Iron Strings Quartet that will participate in the memorial.

Register for the event at uoft.me/Dec62022.
