Appointment of Vice Dean First Year

I am very pleased to formally announce the appointment of Professor Dawn Kilkenny as Vice Dean First Year for a 4-year term, from September 1, 2021 to June 30, 2025.

Dawn joined the Institute of Biomedical Engineering in 2008 as an Assistant Professor (CLTA).   She was appointed as a Lecturer in 2013, an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in 2016, and was promoted to Associate Professor, Teaching Stream in 2018.

She has a notable record of administrative experience in FASE. She served as Associate Director, Undergraduate Programs in BME (2014-2019); Chair of the Biomedical Systems Major in Engineering Science (2015-2017); and Associate Chair, Years 1 & 2 in Engineering Science (2017-2019). She is also the Academic Director of the FASE Undergraduate Summer Research Program (USRP).

Dawn’s outstanding teaching has been recognized with the Wighton Fellowship in 2016 for excellence in development and teaching of lab-based courses in Canadian undergraduate engineering programs; and the 2017 Early Career Teaching Award at U of T.
