Draft Self-Study Document Available for Review

Since we began the Faculty’s self-study in May, we have received tremendous support in the form of meaningful content and feedback throughout the consultation process.
I am pleased to report that the completed self-study chapters are posted online for feedback and accessible by clicking on this link. Please share this link within the Faculty to those who may wish to review the draft. Any comments, corrections or feedback may be sent to the self-study working group by completing this form. Please send your comments by September 20, 2023.

A final draft of the self-study will be submitted to the Vice-Provost, Academic Programs on September 30, 2023. This document is a key element in the external review process and will be provided to the external review team that will visit our Faculty on December 4-6, 2023.
The review team members are:

  • Nora de Leeuw, Executive Dean, Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Leeds University
  • Jim A. Nicell, Dean, Faculty of Engineering McGill University
  • Ishwar Puri, Senior Vice President of Research & Innovation, University of Southern California

The provostial review is a critical element of the University’s commitment to quality assurance, providing an unparalleled opportunity to secure the expert advice of leaders in the field concerning academic and administrative issues, assess our performance against leading
international institutions, and receive guidance on key strategic directions. Your engagement is of paramount importance as the review process will lead to the development of our next Academic Plan.

I would like to extend my gratitude to the self-study working group, faculty members, the decanal leadership team, staff, graduate and undergraduate students, graduate student
associations, the Engineering Society, and alumni for their roles in the consultation process. Your contributions have enabled us to prepare this comprehensive draft.

Thank you, all, for your participation. I look forward to updating you with the review visit scheduled in December.
