Reappointment of Director, ISTEP; Appointment of Acting Director, ISTEP

 I am pleased to announce the reappointment of Professor Greg Evans as Director of the Institute for Studies in Transdisciplinary Engineering Education & Practice (ISTEP), effective July 1, 2023 for his second four-year term. Professor Evans will take an administrative leave the first year of his reappointment. 

Professor Evans joined the Department of Chemical Engineering & Applied Chemistry in 1990, was promoted to Associate Professor in 1995 and to Full Professor in 2000. Greg has an outstanding record of administrative service within the Faculty. From 2003 to 2005 he was Chair, First Year; from 2005 to 2007 he was Vice-Dean, Undergraduate; in 2007 he founded the Southern Ontario Centre for Atmospheric Aerosol Research where he continues to serve as the inaugural Director; from 2011 to 2018 he was the Associate Director of the Troost Institute for Leadership Education in Engineering; from 2014 to 2022 he was the Director of the Collaborative Program in Engineering Education; and he has served as the inaugural Director of ISTEP since 2018. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering, the Canadian Engineering Education Association, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and is a 3M National Teaching Fellow. Greg has also authored 183 refereed publications, 5 book chapters and 213 conference papers and seminars. 

During Greg Evan’s leave in the first year of his reappointment, Professor Greg Jamieson (MIE) will serve as the Acting Director of ISTEP from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. Professor Jamieson joined the Department of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering as an Assistant Professor in 2002. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2007, and Professor in 2017. Most recently, Greg served as the Interim Chair of MIE from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023. He has authored 45 refereed publications, 4 book chapters and 127 conference papers and corporate presentations and holds 4 patents. 

Please join me in congratulating Greg Evans on his reappointment and Greg Jamieson on his acting appointment at ISTEP.
