EEDIAG Open Conversations for Undergraduate Students: Unpacking EDI Challenges in Undergraduate Teamwork

EDI: Equity, Diversity, Inclusivity

Teamwork is integral to engineering—in the classroom and in the workplace—but it is also one of the most challenging tasks.

Teams sometimes hit roadblocks because of different perspectives, styles, identities, or lived experience.

What happens when questions of equity, diversity and inclusion are the cause of these roadblocks?

How a team navigates these challenges often determines its success.  Resolving EDI-related conflicts requires special skills, resources, and understanding that many of us lack.

The Engineering EDI Action Group (EEDIAG) invites undergraduate students, graduate students & teaching assistants, and undergraduate instructors & teaching teams to three open conversations to hear about their experiences working in or with undergraduate student teams.

Each session will include facilitated small-group activities led by trained peers who will guide you through a series of questions to reflect on your experiences and brainstorm ideas for future supports.  There will be time for larger group sharing at the end.

Our aim in these conversations is to:

  • Identify issues, gaps, and recommendations related to EDI in team experiences
  • Work towards developing resources to support undergraduate student teams
  • Have your voice heard by the faculty in relation to team experiences
  • Learn from your peers about how they have navigated challenges on undergraduate student teams

To learn more about each session and to register, visit the relevant event link below.

Please note:  Due to the nature of the activities, we will not be able to admit people to the sessions later than 30 minutes after the event start times.

Lunch or dinner will be provided for those who register before the deadline.  🥪🍎🧃
