Leading through COVID-19: Resilience & Recovery

December 4, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to deliver unprecedented challenges to our health-care system, economy, and society, leaders in industry and academia are charting a course through the crisis and the road to recovery. Join us on December 4th as Professor Chris Yip, Dean of U of T Engineering, hosts a panel of business leaders to discuss the impact of the pandemic and resilience in the face of adversity.

The experts include:

  • Marcy Burchfield, Vice President, Economic Blueprint Institute, Toronto Region Board of Trad
  • Stephen Lund, CEO, Toronto Global
  • Dr. Ibrahim Gedeon, CTO, TELUS

Industry partnerships at U of T Engineering have long been an important mechanism for spurring critical research and translating results. As we look to an uncertain future, the importance of university-industry partnerships will continue to grow as a model of cooperation and innovation – and as a conduit to solving our most complex problems.

In this special livestream discussion, our panelists will discuss:

➢ Impact of COVID-19 and solving current and future challenges

➢ Diverse perspectives on strengthening and rebuilding our regional economy following COVID’s impact

➢ How industry-academia partnerships with U of T Engineering can develop the tools to respond to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic

➢ Resilient leadership that enables us to navigate through the recovery of both our economy and social well-being, and the important role that engineers play
