MScAC Talks: Biological Threat Intelligence in a New Global Era of Epidemics

MScAc Talks

About this talk

The world has entered a new era of epidemics. Governments, private enterprises, health systems, and citizens need around the clock, high-quality intelligence to mitigate the health, economic, and social impacts stemming from disruptive epidemics. This presentation will describe the development and operationalization of a global intelligence platform that leverages diverse global data, machine learning and advanced analytics, and modern digital technologies to help public and private sector organizations strengthen their readiness and resilience to the growing number of infectious disease epidemics appearing in our rapidly changing world.

About the speaker

Dr. Kamran Khan is a practising infectious disease physician, a Professor of Medicine and Public Health at the University of Toronto, and the CEO of BlueDot. Motivated by his experiences during the 2003 SARS outbreak, Dr. Khan has been studying outbreaks of emerging infectious diseases for nearly two decades. To translate scientific discovery into timely action, Dr. Khan founded BlueDot in 2013, a global infectious disease intelligence company that uses big data, human and artificial intelligence, and modern digital technologies to help governments and global businesses build readiness and resilience to emerging global infectious disease threats.
