U of T Engineering’s Voices With Impact Subseries

Voices With Impact is an online festival for films and ideas around underrepresented topics related to mental health hosted by Art With Impact. Join members of the U of T Engineering community on Monday, June 22nd after the film premieres to discuss and celebrate our unique experiences in relation to film showcase themes. Then, explore the rest of the festival throughout the week by participating in the interactive sessions organized by Art With Impact.


Voices With Impact presents: LGBTQIA+ Mental Health: Film Showcase and Filmmaker Q&A
Monday, June 22nd, 2020 (1:00 – 3:30 PM EDT)

The world premiere of five short films around the topic of LGBTQIA+ mental health, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers themselves.

Films to be screened include:

  • “Journey Through Mars” by Karla Legaspy
  • “Safe Space” by Ali Rizvi
  • “The Side Effects of Normal” by Mari Wrobi
  • “Staging Face” by Steph Young, Jake Ivany, Vie Jones
  • “The Rest is Flowers” by Dale John Allen

Following the Filmmaker Q&A, join other students, staff and faculty from U of T Engineering to discuss and celebrate our unique experiences around the topic of LGBTQIA+ mental health. This discussion will be facilitated by Melissa Fernandes, U of T Engineering’s Mental Health Programs Officer.

The world premiere of five short films around the topic of mental health and the culture of masculinity, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers themselves.

  • “Continue to Live” by Paolo Riveros
  • “Factory Talk” by Lucie Rachel and 1990s Chris
  • “Fighter” by Meagan Brown
  • “Masc” by Amilcar Javiier

Following the Filmmaker Q&A, join other students, staff and faculty from U of T Engineering to discuss and celebrate our unique experiences around the topic of mental health and the culture of masculinity.
