The Stewart L. Blusson Visualization Facility (VF) is a state-of-the-art space that houses one of the largest high-resolution display screens available in Toronto, as well as a complementary surround sound system.
It aims to drive innovation at U of T Engineering and beyond by powering a unique and immersive viewing experience.

VF in action
A unique space for the U of T community’s research and learning needs
The VF is available to users within the U of T community, including faculty, staff and graduate students. Past users have leveraged the space in numerous ways to enhance the learning experience of students, display research-related data and information in new ways, and leave a lasting impression with VIPs and prospective partners.

The Visualization Facility is located on level 0 in the Myhal Centre for Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship, U of T Engineering’s newest building.
Near the corner of College and St. George streets, the Myhal Centre is at the heart of the University of Toronto’s downtown campus. Underground parking is available at the site, and washrooms and elevators to other parts of the building are nearby.
The display wall measures 10 feet high by 39.3 feet wide (approximately 3 x 12 meters) and features narrow pixel pitch (NPP) direct-view LED technology.
It has a resolution of 9450 x 2400 pixels, and the room is equipped with three embedded surround sound speakers.
Higher-resolution content will enhance the viewing experience.
The Visualization Facility is designated for the use of professors and staff from the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, as well as other administrative and academic units from across the University of Toronto.
Student groups must be sponsored by an academic unit to whom the room rental rate can be charged.
The space is ideal for events such as:
- a TED Talk or similar presentation
- demonstrations that require high-resolution images, such as displays of microscopic images at larger-than-life size
- visualizing simulations that require large screens and multiple inputs, such as traffic patterns across a city
- a photoshoot or interview with a bespoke background image
- any type of event — whether one-off or recurring — that could benefit from enhanced visual and audio experience

The room rental rate is $100 per hour during regular business hours (8:45 am to 5 pm) for the Faculty of Applied Science & Engineering, or $150 per hour for other areas within the University of Toronto.
For any extension or booking beyond these hours, an additional overtime surcharge of $100 per hour will apply.
The visualization facility can accommodate 25-30 people.
Due to caretaking restrictions, food and beverages are generally not allowed. Drinks such as coffee or tea are permissible, as long as they are sealed with lids.
As the screen is sensitive, guests are asked not to touch the equipment.
