Faculty Council

Faculty Council sets and approves academic policy, principles, priorities, and the general direction for the teaching and research activities of the Faculty. Reporting up through Faculty Council are several standing committees pertaining to: Admissions, Community Affairs and Gender Issues, Undergraduate and Graduate Curriculum, Scholarships and Awards, Teaching Methods and Resources, and Examinations.

Among its many roles and duties, Faculty Council:

  • establishes policies regarding academic matters
  • establishes committees for the conduct of council business
  • advises the Dean on matters relating to academic matters
  • approves and regulates standards of admissions
  • delegates authority for administration of its policies to its committees and academic administrative officers

If you are not a member of Council and would like to receive Council notifications and attend meeting(s) as a non-voting guest, please contact governance.fase@utoronto.ca to be added to the guest mailing list. (Executive Committee meetings are closed to guests.)

Executive Committee meetings are from 12:10-1:10 pm and Council meetings are from 12:10-2:00 pm (the April 27, 2022 meeting is from 12:10-2:30 pm). The cycle 1 meetings will be held online and it will be determined if the remaining meetings will be online or in-person closer to each date.
