Skule Stageband
Skule Stageband is U of T Engineering’s very own jazz band. We aim to support and develop musicians of all skill levels while spreading Skule spirit - ultimately creating a fun and inclusive band environment for all. We strive to achieve this goal through performance opportunities at various Skule events, as well as weekly rehearsals where members can develop their skills.
Key accomplishments
Annual Performance - Earlier this spring, Skule Stageband held our annual performance at Supermarket in Kensington Market, showcasing the musical numbers that our ensembles have been working on throughout the year. Stageband Blue, Gold, and Combo each played a one-hour set of tunes, with many members of the Skule community in the crowd supporting our musicians. This culminating event was a rewarding performance opportunity for our members.
Other Events - Our bands also played at a number of high-profile events throughout the year; perhaps most notably, the Stageband Combo was invited to play at the GOG (Ontario Galleries) annual award ceremony. This prestigious award ceremony honours art galleries from across the province, and our members were proud to represent Skule within the greater Ontario art community.
CPSIF funding impact
CPSIF funding has been instrumental in helping the Skule Stageband achieve its mission this year. Venue booking fees, instrument rental costs, transportation to and from performances, and food for the band are all expenses that were covered thanks to CPSIF. All of these items were essential in allowing us to perform at various events throughout the year.
