Mechanical Engineering Club

Our Research Panel was hosted in the Fall term to introduce students to the world of research and academia. Our panel consisted of Professor Markus Bussman, Axel Guenther, David Steinman, and Edmond Young, grad student Siddhartha Challa and undergrad student Rik Chatterjee. Each panelist introduced their fields of research, their background story and information about their labs, which was followed by a Q&A and networking session. This event helped students interested in pursuing research to learn about methods of funding and available opportunities. 30 students attended the event.

This year’s Dinner Dance marked the inaugural change from being hosted in the Fall, to now being hosted in the Winter. The event was moved to better align with student availability, engagement opportunities, and planning timelines. To make this event convenient for students, it was hosted at the Carlu, a 20 minute walk from campus, providing students with convenience, while maintaining affordable ticket prices of less than $100. We had various activities such as bracelet making stations, glow in the dark accessories, board games, and a photo booth. It was a night full of fun, food, laughter and dance!

Each year, we celebrate our graduating class by hosting a Mech Iron Ring Afterparty. The party was free for the students to attend, and provided refreshments, appetizers and lots of Tacos! This year saw an increase in RSVP and attendance numbers, with a massive increase from last year’s 112 to 180+. The increased engagement was all thanks to our hardworking class reps Celin and Matt; it allowed us to host a competitive game of Quizizz during the night! The night truly celebrates achieving the milestone of attaining the Iron Ring!
