The Filipino Engineering Association of Students in Toronto (FEAST)
The Filipino Engineering Association of Students in Toronto (FEAST) is an EngSoc-affiliated club that aims to create a supportive and understanding community of Filipino engineering students at the University of Toronto. We hope to encourage young Filipinos to pursue a career in Engineering while raising awareness of Filipino culture within the Skule™ Community. We do this through various social events (some in collaboration with other Filipino clubs) and workshops.
Key accomplishments
Friends with FEAST - Friends with FEAST was our kick-off event. This event introduced our club to the Skule™ community as well as brought our members together to destress and meet each other. During this event, we served traditional Filipino snacks, played games, and had karaoke available for those who wanted to perform. It was a fun event and a great way to destress in the midst of exam seasons.
Rice to Meet You - Rice to Meet You was a Valentine's themed collaborative event organized by the Filipino Students’ Association of Toronto (FSAT) with FEAST (that’s us!), the Filipino Students' Association at York (FSAY), and the Filipino Student Association at Toronto Metropolitan University (FILMET). Through this event, we got to meet other Filipinos from universities around Toronto and celebrate our shared culture. We played several games, including six-legged race and human bingo, and served Filipino food. The event also had a donation drive to support the Toronto Catholic District School Board’s service trip to Manila and other charities around Toronto. This event was our first major collaboration and turned out to be a large success.
Performance with FEAST - Performance with FEAST was an open-mic event hosted in Kintore College. This event allowed members and their friends to sing any song they wanted in front of a supportive crowd, boosting self-esteem and building community. We also served snacks and refreshments during the evening event. It was a fun and lively night that allowed everyone to destress between midterms.
CPSIF funding impact
Through the funding provided by CPSIF, we were able to establish our club and host our first official events. We expanded our reach and were able to form a larger community of Filipino students in engineering. We were also able to share our culture with Skule™. Thank you so much to the donors!
