Canadian Association of Food Engineers (CAFE)
The Canadian Association of Food Engineers (CAFE) aims to promote awareness and innovation in the food engineering field. We strive to connect students with industry professionals and foster a community passionate about food systems and sustainability. To achieve this, we host coffee chat events, trivia challenges, networking socials, go on a plant tour and publish The Engineer’s Bite—a magazine showcasing insights and developments in food engineering.
Key accomplishments
Kickoff Social - The Kickoff Social was a community-building event hosted at the start of the Fall semester to welcome new and returning members of the UofT CAFE club. 8+ students attended. The event provided a casual space for students to meet, enjoy refreshments, and learn more about the club. Attendees shared that the social helped them feel more connected to the community and excited to participate in future events.
Trivia Night - Trivia Night was a fun and engaging event hosted in the winter to encourage continued involvement in the UofT CAFE club. 4+ students attended. The night featured a friendly trivia competition covering food engineering topics. Students said the event was a great way to unwind and build connections, with many expressing interest in similar events throughout the year.
CPSIF funding impact
Due to CPSIF funding, we were able to offer all students food and drink refreshments for the events, along with an assortment of monetary prizes (candy and gift cards).
