Etiquette Diner - The Etiquette Dinner was held on February 7, 2025, at The Faculty Club, with 34 students and 6 professionals in attendance. This annual event, pre-COVID, connects students with industry professionals over a three-course dinner while learning proper etiquette. The evening included a reception for networking followed by dinner where students could choose their seating. The event ran smoothly and was well supported. The etiquette coach was easy to work with, and the venue provided a great setting for the dinner.
CIVMIN Career Fair - The CIVMIN Career Fair Preparation Workshop was hosted on January 7, 2025, to help students prepare for the upcoming CIVMIN Career Fair. 24 students attended the workshop, which included three key sections: Networking at Booths, Resumes, and LinkedIn. The first two sections were led by EllisDon HR personnel, while Matt Strohack, a UofT Faculty Member, hosted the final session. Students found the workshop valuable in improving their networking skills and refining their resumes and LinkedIn profiles, with many expressing interest in attending future career preparation events.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to significantly enhance our events this year. The funding enabled us to offer the Etiquette Dinner at a subsidized rate for students, making it more accessible. CPSIF helped give students opportunity to learn etiquette in a fine dining setting through lowering the cost of an event which would have costed $150 per person to $50 per person. For the CIVMIN Career Fair Preparation Workshop, CPSIF provided opportunity to invite and thank industry professionals to help guide students through the difficulty of applying for their first jobs and resume writing. As well as, invest in promotional material for clubs fair which helped expand our club and increase our membership; offer refreshments to those who come out to the events, and offer thank you gifts to professionals who help out in the events.
