Presentations - Our presenters educate student-athletes in TDSB schools, through presentations, about the dangers of head injuries through presentations using an evidence-based bystander intervention model. We have contributed to empowering student-athletes with the knowledge they need to take concussions seriously and foster a safer concussion culture.
Brushes for Brains - Our Brushes for Brains initiative creates a safe space for students to unwind, express themselves creatively, and prioritize mental wellness. We provide supplies for attendees to paint mini canvases or colouring pages, along with free snacks to further enhance the relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. Each event has seen growth, with more students attending and several returning for multiple sessions, demonstrating the initiative’s positive impact. Beyond individual creativity, the events have fostered a sense of community and connection among participants, providing a much-needed break from academic stress.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to invest in healthy snacks and art supplies to support our goal of facilitating events that align with our interest in preserving brain and mental health- two areas that areas severely impacted by brain injuries. We were also able to host team building events to motivate our members to continue participating in brain injury advocacy events through the Chapter, as well as create a sense of community.
