EngSci Dinner Dance - This year, we hosted our annual Dinner Dance for EngSci students with the theme of Roaring 20s: Masquerade Ball. With over 300 attendees, the event featured a three-course meal (with passed hors d’oeuvres when guests arrived), open bars for drinks, free transportation to and from the venue, two photobooths, a live performance from the Skule Stageband, a mask decorating station, and the premiere of the annual Dinner Dance Movie. The Dinner Dance brought together the EngSci community, including a considerable increase in first-year student attendance. It was a memorable night to celebrate the camaraderie of EngScis.
Nocturne - Nocturne is the annual EngSci talent show. Featuring 19 performances and 200+ audience members in attendance, this show was a great way to conclude the academic year and decompress before finals. This year, Nocturne was held in the Innis Town Hall. There were a variety of acts ranging from singing to dancing to magic tricks. At the end of the event, we were able to provide free donuts for students to take home.
Women in EngSci Mixer - The Women in EngSci Mixer is a yearly event celebrating female-identifying students in EngSci. This event is open to anyone who would like to attend. This year, we prepared various arts and crafts activities that allowed attendees to bond and destress after midterms, including friendship bracelet making, scratch art, painting, and candle holder decorating with dried flowers (new this year!). We were also able to provide snacks and light refreshments. There were over 50 attendees at a given time during this event. It was a great experience that a lot of EngScis enjoyed.
Thanks to the funding we received through CPSIF, EngSci Club was able to organize a variety of events that brought together the EngSci Community. The Dinner Dance was our largest event this year and allowed us to bond with one another outside academic settings. We were able to host other events free of charge (including Nocturne and the Iron Ring Party for graduating EngScis) and planned multiple Common Room mixers to allow students to destress during busy seasons. On behalf of the EngSci Club team and community, thank you to all the donors!
