IISE Conference - Our chapter sent a team of delegates to the National Institute of Industrial and Systems Engineers (IISE) Conference in Montreal from January 24–27, 2025, alongside 300+ students from across Canada. We proudly placed 3rd in the Capsize Challenge, demonstrating creativity and adaptability, and 2nd in the Speed Building competition, highlighting our quick thinking and exceptional teamwork. These accomplishments showcased U of T’s strength in systems engineering. The conference also provided valuable opportunities for networking, technical talks, and collaboration with peers, significantly contributing to individual’s professional development and school pride.
Lean Green Belt Certification Workshop - In partnership with IISE, we hosted a three-day, in-person Lean Green Belt Certification workshop attended by 20 students. This workshop focused on Lean methodologies in operations and supply chain management. The discounted registration fee allowed broader participation and equipped students with globally recognized qualifications that enhance their career prospects.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to send students to the IISE Conference at a significantly subsidized cost, improving accessibility and representation. Support from the MIE department also enabled us to offer Lean Green Belt certification at half the market rate, making professional development more affordable and inclusive for all interested students.
