Resume Workshops - One of our most impactful events were 2 resume workshops held in November 2024 and January 2025. This was one of the most requested events as everyone was actively looking for internships and we confirmed this by conducting a poll. The November workshop was held with UofT students volunteering, some of them being on PEY at the time. The January workshop was hosted in partnership with academic advisors from the Engineering Career Centre. In total 45 students attended the session, where they received one-on-one feedback on their resumes.
PEY Panel - To help students prepare for co-op and internship applications, we organized a PEY Panel in September 2024. Six upper-year students who had recently completed their PEY placements at companies such as Gerdau, Tesla, and Ellis Don joined us to share their experiences and answer audience questions. Over 25 students attended the event, gaining insider knowledge about the application process, job search strategies, and workplace culture. Participants enjoyed delicious pizza! Soon after the panel we recognized the importance of building a professional presence and hosted a Professional Headshot Event where over 45 students had the opportunity to receive high-resolution LinkedIn-ready headshots.
SOLIDWORKS Workshop - We held other events as well like the SOLIDWORKS workshop, a professional talk with the MSE department external coordinator, etc. The SOLIDWORKS workshop was more than technical training - it was a collaborative, peer-led learning environment where first-time users and seasoned designers worked side-by-side. The supportive atmosphere of the workshop reflected the Skule community’s tradition of peer mentorship and mutual growth. All of these events had multiple snacks, refreshments and a little something for the people who took out the time for us.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to not only run these events but also cultivate an inclusive and empowering environment where Skule students could learn, connect, and thrive. One of the talented members of our executive team also put together an amazing website (link provided above) which we are able to run and have everyone to see solely because of the CPSIF funding!
