Large-Scale Competitions - UTEK 2024-2025 saw an increase in participation by 80% compared to the previous year, with over 350 tickets sold. Engineering students from various backgrounds competed in various competitions, applying their engineering knowledge from the classroom to real-life scenarios. UTEK also saw an improvement in the quality of projects, along with the increase in ticket sales, which allowed UTEK to send more qualified delegates to the Ontario Engineering Competition (OEC).
OEC & CEC - We were able to send 24 delegates to the OEC at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario from January 24-26th, 2025. The Re-Engineering Team placed first at OEC and was able to attend the Canadian Engineering Competition (CEC). Overall, our performance at OEC was an improvement compared to the prior year, where the top-ranking delegates placed third in the Junior Design competition.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to organize a highly successful UTEK 2025. We were able to serve the Skule community by offering a design competition that focuses on soft as well as hard skills, and provides the opportunity for participants to showcase U of T at the Ontario Engineering Competition as well. Funds were allocated to venue logistics, participant amenities, and promotional materials, all contributing to a valuable and impactful experience for all students involved as well as the heightened visibility of the club.
