2025 CEP Final Showcase and Award Presentation - UTESCA celebrated a successful year of Consulting Engineering Projects (CEP), featuring five impactful projects delivered in collaboration with real-world clients. These culminated in the 2025 CEP Final Showcase, held on April 3rd at the Bahen Centre. The evening included formal team presentations, a live Q&A, and an award ceremony featuring the People’s Choice Award. The event welcomed over 60 attendees, including students, faculty, alumni, and industry professionals. Notable guests included Dean Christopher Yip, Professor Michael Guerzhoy, Professor Scott Ramsay, Jennifer Schell (CEO, Finliti), and Jason B. Ramsay (CEO, Nodalli). The showcase provided students with a platform to present high-quality deliverables and connect meaningfully with industry leaders - reinforcing UTESCA’s mission to bridge engineering education with professional consulting practice.
UTESCA Case Competition: Ace the Case (in collaboration with Deloitte) - UTESCA successfully hosted Ace the Case, a large-scale case competition in partnership with Deloitte, designed to develop students’ strategic thinking and technical communication skills. The event drew 60 participants who formed interdisciplinary teams to solve a complex engineering consulting challenge. Judged by a panel of industry professionals and alumni, the competition offered participants real-time feedback and insights into consulting best practices. Students appreciated both the hands-on experience and the welcoming atmosphere, including provided meals and refreshments, which supported a productive and enjoyable event. Feedback highlighted major takeaways in teamwork, public speaking, and client-focused problem solving, further establishing UTESCA’s role in preparing students for real-world consulting environments.
Community and Professional Development Initiatives - Beyond major events, UTESCA broadened its impact through new skill-building workshops and corporate outreach initiatives. This year, we introduced one new event per semester: a Case Mastery workshop with Kearney, and a technical skills session led by professionals from KPMG (Capital Markets) and a 2023 Microsoft Excel World Championship finalist. These additions complemented our core offerings like PwC’s Consultant for a Day and Ace the Case, while laying the groundwork for future partnerships with firms such as Roland Berger and BCG planned for Fall 2025. Alongside improved mentorship and client engagement efforts, these initiatives led to enhanced project outcomes, stronger student engagement, and reinforced UTESCA’s position as a leading pre-professional organization within the Skule community.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we ran our Deloitte Case Competition at just $10 per participant, creating an accessible platform for students to develop skills in consulting, public speaking, and case analysis. CPSIF support also enabled us to open our Consulting Engineering Projects Final Showcase to the entire student body for the first time, inspiring students with real-world projects they could join. Additionally, we hosted multiple professional development events and socials, helping students explore consulting career paths and meet the growing demand for industry exposure within the U of T engineering community.
