Engaging the Community - We organized 7 events throughout the school year, with these being presentations from industry professionals and alumni, an Industry Day that brought together nuclear companies in Canada and a Hackathon, Nuclear Hacks, that gave students a chance to showcase their innovative design ideas. Participation in these events were on average great, with roughly 15-20 students participating in all the events.
Hackathon - The Hackathon on March 25th in the Sandford Fleming building was the first of its kind since the club was founded. The Hackathon saw over 45 participants from various engineering streams and the students found it to be a great learning experience. The Industry Day helped foster connections between students and their dream nuclear companies, while UTNEA received excellent feedback from both the judges and the participants.
With the help of CPSIF funding, UTNEA was able to fund all refreshments in the form of food and drinks for participants and presenters for all our events. We were also able to plan new events such as the Industry Day and the Hackathon. The funding was crucial for multiple room bookings throughout the school year. We were also able to prepare for the Clubs Fair Event in the beginning of this year thanks to CPSIF funding.
