UTCC - The University of Toronto Consulting Conference (UTCC) is UTCA’s flagship event, and 2024 marked our most successful year yet. Held on November 30, the event brought together 100+ students forming 25 teams from five universities to compete in a full-day case competition judged by 25 consultants, including 10 U of T alumni. This year, we introduced workshops led by IBM and FTI Consulting, which students found especially helpful in building skills before their presentations. Feedback from both participants and judges was overwhelmingly positive, especially around the quality of organization and the professional atmosphere.
Expand Your Horizons - This was a two-part in-person event series hosted at the offices of ZS Associates and Invictus Analytics, designed to introduce students to niche areas of consulting such as life sciences and data-driven strategy. Each session featured expert speakers, followed by Q&A and networking. The opportunity to engage directly with consultants in a professional setting was a distinctive draw for students, with over 35 participants attending across both sessions.
Thanks to CPSIF funding, we were able to upgrade to a newer, more professional venue for UTCC and provide lunch to all student participants on conference day. The support also allowed us to host skill-building workshops like Consulting 101 and the Women in Consulting panel, covering room bookings and alumni honoraria. These improvements significantly enhanced the student experience and helped us deliver high-quality, accessible programming that supports professional development in consulting.
