Workshops - In the past school year (2024 - 2025), we hosted 5 workshops in collaboration with other clubs at the University of Toronto and outside bodies. We collaborated with the Spanish and Latin Department of U of T, EWB, LESA, and Toronto Police Youth program. The club we partner with finds participants, and we do the planning, which includes preparing the contents and organizing speakers for the workshop. Our workshops focused on various public speaking tips such as vocal variety, body language, confidence, and structure. In total, we had around 180 participants for the workshops.
International Impact - We have started a club visits program, in which we invite experienced speakers from other Toastmasters International clubs to come give evaluations for our club (they evaluate speeches and the general organization of the club, such that our members can gain valuable outsider feedback). Our members visit other experienced clubs to learn from them and make valuable connections.
Sustainable Water Seminar - We have started getting heavily involved in an event organized by the Western Ontario chapter of the PEO. We participated in a Sustainable Water seminar, in which our members helped run the seminar and introduce speakers. We are currently working with them to organize a public speaking and communication seminar that will be held in October. Our involvement includes collaborating with the keynote speaker and the chapter on creating the seminar plan, organizing the venue & refreshments, helping with advertisement, and finding speakers.
CPSIF funding covered our club’s operational expenses, allowing us to run our weekly meetings smoothly. With the support from CPSIF funding, our club was able to book meeting rooms and purchase equipment (camera, microphone, speaker, etc.), allowing us to host our weekly meetings both in-person and online, for UofT students from all three campuses to participate. CPSIF funding also played an important role in covering our website fees. Moreover, with CPSIF funding, our club was able to offer free food for our Open House and social events attendees.
